Workshop: Comparative Company Analysis
This week we'll be looking at company's 10Ks to get an understanding of fundamental analysis. Fundamental analysis involves looking at how the company operates and potential growth/risk factors that could lead to increases or decreases in their stock value. While this isn't the focus of the course, it's important to have a basic understanding to run sanity checks on any technical analysis results that we find.
We will also be running comparative company analyses, known as comps. Comps involve collecting financial information from financial statements and calculating other financial or market values and evaluation metrics/ratios. We then use these ratios and compare them to competitors within the same industry to determine how different companies compare to each other and which companies would be the best choice to invest in with respect to their competitors.
