Lab: Applied Comps and Fundamental Analysis

Begin working on your semester long project by choosing a company or industry your team (lab group) is interested in researching for your pitch! Once you have your selection, choose either 3 other competitors or the top 4 companies in that industry and collect the necessary financial data for comps. Then calculate the other financial information you would need and plug it into the linked comps template to calculate evaluation metrics/ratios to compare the companies to each other.

Then, time permitting, start looking at the 10K of the company with the best evaluation metrics and look for good thesis points (reasons for company growth) and risk (aspects that could hinder growth).
